WWA joined training program at Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)

WWA conducted training program on Emotional Intelligence (EI) for Kathmandu Metropolitan City(KMC) for the different levels of staff held on May 25, 2011 where Prof.Dr. MP Regmi, Mr. Arhan Sthapit, Mr. Ramesh Nath Dawadi, and Mr. Shaligram Bhattarai deal in the different issues training program like Life Without Anger (LWA) , Stress Management, Anger Management and Workplace Without Anger. The training program was conducted for 4 days at Orchid Hotel, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, Nepal.

2nd Annual International conference on Significance of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and Peace Education in Nepal

World Without Anger (WWA) and Global Peace Association (GPA) Nepal were jointly organized 2nd Annual International Conference on Significance of Emotional Intelligence and Peace Education in Nepal on 30 December 2010 with the graceful presence of Honorable Delli Bahadur Mahat, Ministry for State, Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, Government of Nepal stressed that this kind of conference and its output would be beneficial to the people of Nepal to restore peace and harmony and also said that 12 Point dealed between Government and Maoist is not sufficient to establish absolute peace in Nepal but also implement these kinds of programs and activities would be helpful.

Likewise Kathmandu District Local Committee Chairman Mr. Bhimsen Das Pradhan said that Local Peace Committee is interested to implement WWA program and activities in all schools of Kathmandu District. One of the guests from international community Dr. Rupali Jeswal spoke out an importance of Emotional Intelligence and its usage in the day to day life to the developing country like Nepal to create friendly environment. President of WWA Mr. DM Basnet said in his welcome speech that this is the right time to develop Emotional Intelligence programs and activities to the people of Nepal and the world to confront the current issues. WWA tries to develop UNESCO’s Inter-Agency Peace Education Program as other country doing.

The program was chaired by Dr. Kishwor Rajbhandari and highlighted that WWA and GPA Nepal’s mutual efforts would be helpful to come out from the transitional period of Nepal. The government’s agendas should not be only limited with abstract but also substantial for the aspiration of the people. Likewise, Prof. Dr. Triratna Manandhar, Vice-Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University stressed that he is happy to work with WWA as Buddha’s Philosophy of Peace. In the conference, there about seven imperial researched papers were presented from national and international in the field of Peace education and emotional intelligence where Prof. Dr. M.P. Regmi, Mr. Arahan Sthapit, Dr. Dean Van Leuven, Dr. Repali Jeswal, Prof. Dr. Khadga Man Shrestha, Mr. Ramesh Dawadi, and Mr. Mukunda Raj Kandel, of. Dr. Manohar Krishna Shrestha, Prof. Dr. Tulasi Ram Vaiday, and Dr. Sanubhai Dongol were presiding and commenting the different sessions of the research papers. At the end of the conference sessions, certificated awarded to the paper presenters by Dr. Kishwor Rajbhandari, GPA Nepal.

Teachers’ Training Program Jointly Organized by WWA and Future on Life Without Anger Emotional Training Program (LWAETP)

WWA and Future Stars High School has jointly organized one day's Life Without Anger Emotional Training Program (LWAETP) on 8th March 2010, It was held to build up effective classroom practice through emotionally trained teachers. 61 teachers have participated from Future Stars High School who were oriented by the experts of psychology department oTribhuvan University and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Maharajgung. Mr. Bhimsen Das Pradhan, Co-coordinator, Local Peace Committee, Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, Government of Nepal was the Chief Guest of the program and the program was chaired by Ms. Manju Karki Lamichhane. Thus, Mr. DM Basnet, Founder President was the Special Guest of the program. Prof. Dr. Tulasi Ram Vaidya and Dr. Laxman Shakya were chaired the different sessions. In the first session, Prof.Dr. Shirshir Subba, Head, Psychology Department, Tribhuvan University, Ms. Mita Rana, Chief Consultant, Clinical Psychologist, Dept. Psychiatric, Teaching Hospital, T.U. Prof.Dr. M.P. Regmi, Chief Advisor, Advisory Committee, WWA. Dr. Niranjan Pd. Upadhaya, Joint Secretary (Chief Psychologist), Public Service Commission, Government of Nepal conducted the LWA Program. Basically the training program was based on Life Without Anger Emotional Training Program (LWAETP) which helped to equip the school teachers.

Mr. Pradhan, Chief Guest stated that such program to be the milestone for building the peace and prosperity in the country. He emphasized for the implementation of training's result in the classroom practice as well as their daily life, so that the desired goal can be achieved in time and Mr. Pradhan added that Local Peace Committee is interested to collaborate with WWA for the expansion of LWAET Program in other few schools in around Kathmandu District.. Mr. DM Basnet, Founder President, WWA, Special Guest, presented the overall achievement of WWA. He stressed that LWA using the concept in dealing with psychological/emotional problems in the outdoor/indoor patients

in the hospital and health centers in removing stress and reducing blood pressures in result create joyful, peaceful and calm in the minds and heart of people and the workplace for the sustainable peace and prosperity in humankind. However, Emotional Intelligence, an emerging topic in leadership development of any nature of leader is

the most important attribute of a successful leader. It is because these skills and traits those set the leader apart and leads to his/her success.

The program was highlighted by Prof. Dr. Tulasi Ram Vaidya, Special Advisor, Advisory Committee, WWA, Guest,Mr. Shivendra Karki, Sr. Teacher, Future Stars High School, Lalitpur, Guest, Dr. Niranjan Pd. Upadhaya, Joint Secretary, (Chief Psychologist), Public Service Commission, Government of Nepal, Guest. Mr. Chuda Shrestha, one of the participants, shared the impact of training program on him. . He expressed his expectation that such program will happen time and again in his school and others so that they can be enlighten to bring the expected result through classroom practice. Ms. Manju Karki Lamichhane, Chairperson of the program, in her concluding remarks highly appreciated the program and valued for the output of such program in the effectiveness of classroom exercise, she added these kinds of program should be initiated in the whole schools of Nepal.

5th Inter School YOUNG SCIENTIST’S FAIR World Without Anger is offered to put stall by Young Scientist’s Fair where many schools and colleges about 10,000 visitors visited in the Fair. WWA got opportunity of disseminating its programs and activities to the young students from different schools and colleges. Books on Life Without Anger written by Dr. Dean Van Leuven, Oregon, USA were also displayed and sold in the event.

However, students got an opportunity to know about the WWA programs and activities during the two days (3-4 December, 2009) Fair organized by Eureka High School, Nepaltar. Kathmandu, Nepal.

News about the Life Without Anger Education Program (LWAEP)’s orientation training program held on February 9, 2008.

WWA presented a Teachers’ Orientation Program (TOP) on Emotional Intelligence (EI) called Life Without Anger Education Program (LWAEP) on February 9, 2008. The training program was preceded by a formal program.  DM Basnet, President, WWA, Prof .Dr. M.P. Regmi, Chief Advisor, Advisory Committee ,WWA,  Dr. Laxman Shakya, Sr. Program Coordinator, WWA, Shaligram Bhattarai, Advisor, WWA- Nepal and Mr. Jeevan Raj Panthy, Principal, Buddha Jyoti Academy spoke about the objectives and values of the training program and its importance at the high school and college level, and for its benefits to all our society. The training program was conducted with interaction among the teachers and the trainers. Teachers were presented with both Teachers’ Manual and Student Manuals.In the training program six school teachers and two volunteers from three schools were trained. The objective of this program is to provide training for sixty students in each of the three schools for a total of one hundred eighty students in the program.  The principals of each of the three schools also participated and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for conducting the LWAEP in their respective schools.  The LWAEP will commence in the third week of February, 2008.  The training program was conducted by Prof. Dr. M.P. Regmi and Mr. Shaligram Bhattarai. The program’s resources were fully managed by the WWA and Buddha Jyoti Academy, one of the program schools. This particular student training program will end in May, 2008.  The day’s program was coordinated by Mr. Mukunda Pd. Sharma, Program Coordinator for WWA.

Evaluation:
An evaluation of the students’ life skills on Emotional Intelligence (EI) will be assessed both before and after the program by WWA for all students who participate.

Program Objectives:
Teachers and students understand the emotional intelligence concepts after completing the WWA Life Without Anger Student Manual and Students’ life skills training on EI.  They will learn to solve their day to day problems in a more effective way at school, at home, and later in the workplace.  This will form the foundation that makes it possible to create the peace building mission for our society. Accordingly students will be benefit from the LWAEP program in the following ways:

A brief sketch of his visit from November 15 to 26, 2007 at the cordial invitation of WWA.

A team from World Without Anger (WWA) cordially received Dr.Dean at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu on the 15th. He looked very happy and pleased perhaps to see the beauty of Nepal, the Land of Peace.

On the 16th: Dr. Dean began his journey in Nepal by giving an interview on state owned Television (NTV) on a sunny morning. The interview was about 20 minutes on the subject of the Life Without Anger (LWA) Program and Emotional Intelligence – its prospects and implementation in Nepal.

Dr. Dean then met with Mr. Kapil Dev Regmi, Principal of Kathmandu Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Baneshwor, which is one of the program schools. They talked for about half an hour about implementing of the Life Without Anger (LWA) program at Don Bosco School and also taking the feedback of the emotional intelligence education from participating students and teachers with the principal. He interacted about 2 hours with the 60 students participating in the LWA Program. The students asked Dr. Dean many questions about Emotional Intelligence and the LWA Student Manual.

Dr. Dean along with WWA delegates had a very nice talk with Ms. Gita Rana, President of National PABSAN and principal of Galaxy Public Higher Secondary School, Ganeshwor including other N. PABSAN members. She said that she was ready to help WWA by offering training for 20 Principals and 3000 students from the different schools. In the overall the meeting was fruitful and impressive.

On the 17th: WWA organized a Welcome Ceremony in honor of Dr. Dean. The program's Chief Guest was Prof. Dr. Surya Lal Amataya, Rector, Tribhuvan University. In the ceremony about 150 participants were invited including Mr.DM Basnet, President of WWA; Dr.Prof. M.P. Regmi, Chief Advisor of WWA; Asst. Prof., Asst.Dean Dr Shisir Subba, Humanities and Social Science, T.U.; Mr. Ananda Aditya, Chairman, Pragya Foundation; Mr. Mukunda Pd.Sharma, Vice Principal, Little Angels' School; Mr. Naresh Man Shrestha, Headmaster, Visco Niketan Higher Secondary School; Dr. Laxman Shakya, Sr. Program Coordinator for WWA and program coordinator of the ceremony; Mr. Pushpa Raj Paudel, advisor WWA; Mr. Surya Prakash Adhikari, V.President WWA; Mr. Shaligram Bhattarai, Advisor and Board of Directors WWA were presented.

Dr. Dean said that he was always ready to extend his helping hands for the sake of WWA and in the broader sense for global peace. Prof Dr. M.P. Regmi spoke on the need of education regarding Anger Management. Associate Prof. Dr. Shishir Subba said that anger can be managed if it is dealt with tactfully in time. Mr.Pushpa Raj Paudel highlighted the program on the part of WWA. Prof. Dr. Surya Lal Amataya, Rector, Tribhuvan University highlighted the need for anger management in the context of Nepal. Similarly, Mr. Aananda Aditya also gave a beautiful speech on current affairs regarding emotional disturbances. Dr.Laxman Shakya spoke briefly about the pilot program and the implementation of the program in Nepal schools.

In his concluding Remarks Mr. DM Basnet, President of WWA made a very strong promise to develop further programs inside and outside the valley in the days ahead and vote of thanks was given by Mr. Surya Prakash Adhikari, Vice President.

Volunteers and teachers were presented gifts and awarded certificates certifying successful completion of their LWA training presented on 28 -29 September, 2007 on the auspicious occasion of the Inauguration Ceremony of WWA. Dr. Dean also conducted LWA training for the teachers and WWA volunteers.

The day was very significance for the nation because WWA was able to bring Dr.Dean who had propounded the theory of Life Without Anger and the program was conducted by Mr. Khyam Nath Timsina and convened at Kathmandu Don Bosco Higher Secondary School.

The ceremony was grand success and milestone in the history of WWA.

On the 18th: Dr. Dean and WWA delegates met with Ms. Manju Karki Lamichhane, Principal, Future Stars High School, Lalitpur which was one of the program schools. They presented a beautiful cultural program with melodious song and dance by the school students to welcome Dr. Dean. For about one hour the students interacted with many questions for Dr. Dean and the other WWA participants. The principal organized a meeting with Dr.Dean and WWA delegates and provided refreshments.

On the same day, Dr. Dean and WWA Members met with Mr. Mukunda Sharma, representative of PABSON. The meeting was held at Little Angels' School, Hattiban. He was also offered a token of love. There was a beautiful interaction program among Vice principals, head teachers, incharges and other participants. Dr.Dean also appeared on an interview program at Classic F.M. in the evening and talked about the LWA program in Nepal and about his concepts and programs.

On the 19th: Dr. Dean met with Mr.Prakash Phuyal, Principal, Kalidevi Higher Secondary High School, Kavrasthali, one of the program schools. He also met with the Principal and teachers. He devoted about one and a half hour to an interaction program with the students. One more interesting event, every question was asked in Nepali language but every question was translated into English by the translator and then Dr. Dean was able to answer their every question. Afterward, Dr.Dean and other delegates of WWA met with Mr. Deepak Shrestha, Sr.Coordinator of Gurukul Public School, Balaju and Dr. Dean explained about the LWA program and implementation of the LWA program in the schools. Mr. Shrestha requested Dr.Dean to have interaction with the school students. The students and teachers asked Dr. Dean many questions about LWA for about one hour.

On the same day, Political and Social Analyst Mr. Anand Adyta, Chairman, Chelsea Academy, Mid Baneshwor organized a meeting with Dr.Dean and WWA's delegates in the evening about discussing the LWA program implementation in Nepal. Mr. Anand and other participating delegates requested WWA to organize one grand interaction program at Chelsea Academy with students, parents, guardians and other dignitaries on the 21st. The proposal was accepted by the WWA.

On the 20th: Dr. Dean met with Dr. Baburam Pokheral, Principal, V.S.Nikentan Higher Secondary School, Min Bhawan, Baneshwor and interacted with lots of questions from grade 11 and 12 students. The interaction program was well organized by the school. Dr. Pokheral offered to implement the LWA program in his school in the future. Dr. Dean also had an excursion to Basantapur Durbar Square, New Road, he got the opportunity to see the living God Kumari, and historical places of Kathmandu during this visit. Dr. Laxman Shakya explained nicely about the Basantapur Durbar Square. Dr. Dean was offered dinner by Sunlight Publication in the evening. Sunlight Publication is the publisher of the WWA Student Manual as well as other excellent educational books.

On the 21st: This was a scheduled day of rest for Dr. Dean. However, one requested program was inserted by the WWA at Chelsea International Academy. Chelsea organized a formal program with interaction. The program was excellent because many scholars, national level intellectuals, teachers, students, parents, guardians and many more participated.

On the 22nd: Dr. Dean and other WWA Members met with Mr. Data Ram Khanal, V.President of Social Welfare Council, Ministry of Children and Woman. The main agenda was to inform the Ministry about the concept of LWA for the development of the peace process through this emotional intelligence education system. The meeting was coordinated by Mr.Hari Kumar Basnet, Legal Advisor, WWA.

Also, there was a meeting with Mr. Lakpa Sherpa, Principal, Laboratory Higher Secondary School, Kirtipur. Mr.Sherpa was also interested in conducting WWA's program after completion of the pilot the program. Dr.Dean interacted with the students and teachers at the school. He also visited all the classes from Nursery to Class ten. Later he took an excursion to Patan Durbar Square at Patan. He was able to visit the many historical places of Patan Durbar Square.

On the 23rd: The principal of the Dewy Dawn High school, Bhotebhal cordially received Dr Dean. There was a beautiful interaction and sharing program at the School. The students and teachers asked Dr. Dean many questions.

Next Dr.Dean visited with Mr. Naresh Man Shrestha, Headmaster, and other Sr. teachers at Viswo Nikten Higher Secondary School, Tripureshwor. He interacted with different classes of students.

He also met with Mr. Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, Chief, Mr. Shishir Pd. Manandhar, International Relation Officer and other officials of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Kathmandu. Kathmandu City has requested WWA develop and conduct a training program for the Drop-In-Centers for Domestic Child Labor for the Volunteers, and Employees of the Center.

After that Microtech Computer PVT.LTD organized an interaction program for executives, employees and technical students on the Microtech premises. Dr.Dean was pleased by their many questions and a lively discussion followed. They offered refreshments for Dr. Dean and other WWA participants after the program.

In the evening Dr.Dean and other WWA Members were invited for the dinner at a marriage ceremony at the CW Chinese Restaurant, Durbar Marg.

On the 24th: Dr. Dean met with the Board of Directors (BoDs) at WWA's office at Putalisadak. The BoD was pleased to welcome him in the WWA's Office. Dr.Dean was nominated as a life long patron of WWA and expressed hearty thanks and for the great contribution of WWA to share knowledge on Emotional Intelligence among the people of Nepal.

WWA's Board of Directors discussed the on present and future program and how to discussed strategy on how to provide funding for WWA programs.

The BoD decided to keep the Slogan of WWA- "Our World Is Exactly What We Make Of It". Dr.Dean and other members of WWA signed on the LWA Banner as a promise to make our world free from Anger. Dr. Dean signed a letter accepting his commitment as a life long patron of WWA.

On the same day, he went to Nuwakoot district just for the sight seeing on Motor Bike for couple of hours. Then after he had meeting with Advisors, BoD, and other dignitaries. The meeting was convened at Education Journalists' Group office, Annam Nagar. The agenda of the meeting was searching aid agencies and other individual donors to continue the on going program and future programs. At that moment, every one expressed thanks to the BoD for bringing such a successful program in such a short span of time without outside funding. Everyone suggested BoDs to quest the funds to energize and make the more wonderful programs of the WWA.

On the 25th: - Home Rest.

On the 26th: Dr. Dean and other WWA member were invited at Bernt Hardt College at 8 AM. Mr.Nava Raj Adhikari, Managing Director cordially received delegates of WWA at the college gate. Dr. Dean had special meeting with Mr. Adhikari and other executives and teachers for about half an hour. The college organized interaction program with final Bachelors' level students. Everyone enjoyed interacting with Dr. Dean, Prof. Dr. Regmi, and Mr. Shaligram Bhattarai. WWA and Dr. Dean met with Mr. Tap Raj Pant, National Program Officer at UNESCO at 11 AM in his office. Dr. Dean, Mr. Basnet, President, Mr. Bharat Giri, General Secretary, Prof. Dr. M.P Regmi, Chief Advisor, Dr. Laxman Sakya, Sr. Program Coordinator, Mr. Shaligram Bhattarai, Advisor were presented at the meeting. The agenda of the meeting was to introduce the Emotional Intelligence concept and inform Mr. Pant about the on going pilot project at the three program schools. The meeting was fruitful and successful, and established a relationship to explore carrying out WWA's program in future with the help of UNESCO. Mr. Pant suggested to bring the concept as an inclusive approach for peace education for peace building mission inside and outside the country. Presently, UNESCO is reviewing the course books - Student Manual, and Teacher Manual of LWA and other Emotional Intelligence materials developed by Dr. Dean for inclusion in their Inter-Agency Peace Education Programme. The meeting was milestone in the walk of WWA - Nepal's journey. This is how Dr. Dean's entire tentative schedule has ended. No wonder he returned to his home with a cold on the evening of 26th November, 2007. Mr. Bharat Giri, General Secretary was the whole day coordinator 15-26 November, 2007 of Dr. Dean's visit to all the places. Thus, WWA also nominated day-wise coordinators. On behalf of WWA expressed heartfelt thanks the hospitality of our board member Mr. Suraj KC who kept Dr. Dean about 13 days at his home without any hesitation and economy burden. We should not forget his great contribution by providing hospitality to Dr. Dean and other member of WWA. In this regard, WWA has no amount of single word to express him thanks by word of his greatest contribution but which was already written by golden letter in the history of WWA. Sister Romica Aryal, (one of the members of the family) was always looked busy to take care of Dr. Dean while staying with the family.
