Kathmandu hosts 10th International Conference

Recently, World Without Anger (WWA) and the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) jointly held the 10th International Conference onEmotional Intelligence and Management of Human Resources, Information Technology, Cooperatives, and Positive Mental Health for World Peace in the Pandemic-affected Era” at Kathmandu Business Campus, Banasthali, Kathmandu, on November 5 and 6, 2022.

Prof. Dr. Shilu Manandhar Bajracharya, Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Open University, was the Chief Guest of the 10th International Conference, which was presided over by Dr. Dess Mardan Basnet, President of WWA, and Er. Ram Rohan Pant, President of GPA Nepal.Dr. Ashis Sen, Adjunct Professor HRM, and OB, IIM Nagpur, India, were the special guests of the 10th WWA International Conference. The chief guest inaugurated the 10th International Conference by lighting the auspicious lamp with the Nepalese national anthem. Welcoming the guests and audiences, Prof. Dr. Arhan Sthapit, Chair, of the 10th International Conference, remarked that the conference has adopted a relevant theme and expressed his pleasure to welcome scholars, academicians, and researchers from ten different countries to this conference: Australia, Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India, Kosovo (central Europe), Malaysia, Nepal, Romania, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

During the opening ceremony, the Chief Guest released WWA International Journal Vol. 8, which was edited by Prof. Dr. Murari Prasad Regmi, Dr. Albin Wallace, UK, and Dr. Antigonos Sochos. At the same time, all of the dignitaries on the Dias released the abstract book of the 10th International Conference. At this conference, “the Dean of the International Peace Prize (DOIPP)” for 2020 and 2021 was awarded to Dr. Ashis Sen, India, and Dr. Laxman Shakya, Nepal, respectively.

Dr. Ashis Sen expressed his deep appreciation by saying that “World Without Anger” (WWA) would become a reality when people from different parts of the world deliberate on the subject, dialogue on it, and create consensus on the need for and significance of human progress. WWA’s effort in this direction is indeed commendable. Similarly, Dr. Shakya stressed that a peaceful world is the need of the universe. WWA is advancing in that direction.

On the happy occasion of the 10th International Conference, the WWA Visionary Achievement Award for 2020–2021 was given to Mr. Mukunda Raj Khanal, Chairman of Bachan Savings and Credit Co-operative Ltd., and Mr. Dipendra Phuyal, Executive Member of Bachan Savings and Credit Co-operative Ltd. Mr. Shantideep Regmi, who runs the Pipalbot Monthly Magazine in Kathmandu, Nepal, was given a WWA Volunteer Achievement Award for 2022.

Speaking as the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Shilu Manandhar Bajracharya, Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Open University, wished that the 10th international conference would be beneficial to national and international academia. Professor Shilu stressed that, given the development of events, probably the time has come to revamp our education system and the educational process.

As a dignitary speaker, Prof. Dr. Murari Prasad Regmi, Chief Advisor and Chief Editor of the WWA International Journal, highlighted that extreme anger is very harmful to life. It causes a heart attack and instant death. Controlling anger with the proper seasoning and wisdom is a must.

Mr. Matt Perelstein, co-founder, CEO, and Chief Patron of WWA, highlighted that everyone ought to help make the world a more peaceful place. Besides, the mission and goal of WWA and EQ4Peace Worldwide Inc., USA, are to bring peace to every country and every individual in the world. Creating inner peace, interpersonal peace, and social peace ultimately leads to global peace.

Likewise, Dr. Mahomad Ali Khalid, Bangladesh, and Prof. Dr. Usha Kiran Subba stressed the importance of mental health to create inner peace and harmony. So, Mr. Manohar K. Bhattarai, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Kathmandu Business Campus and the Sambriddhi Education Foundation in Kathmandu, was happy to join the World Without Anger (WWA) conference.

Er. Ram Rohan Pant, President of the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Nepal and Co-Chairperson of the Inaugural Ceremony of the 10th International Conference, extended a vote of thanks on behalf of the conference to all participants, including EQ4Peace Worldwide Inc., USA, a Partner, Co-Organizer, Kathmandu Business Campus, Nepal Open University, Pacific University, India, and Bachan Saving and Credit Co-operative Ltd., a Supporter, and Sponsor of the Conference.

Delivering the concluding remarks, Dr. Dess Mardan Basnet, founder and president of the WWA and chairperson of the inaugural session, said emotional intelligence education is becoming more popular in modern societies. This conference has contributed significant leadership on emotional intelligence and a positive message in the pandemic-affected era. In this context, the United Nations has already recognized EI and EQ as sustainable development goals (SDGs) in order to ensure that all people on the planet enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. The mission of the WWA is to meet the objectives and goals of the United Nations, as mentioned here. Emotional intelligence (EI) is the best tool in the cooperative world of work for creating sustainable socio-economic and inner peace among stakeholders. Emotional intelligence is a key part of building inner peace through cooperation, which can be seen in Rwanda’s work in this area.

On November 5 and 6, 2022, the 10th WWA International Conference was held. It had two planetary, one-panel panel discussions, 11 technical sessions going on at the same time, and over 59 research papers from 11 countries.

The 10th International Conference was concluded on November 6, 2022, at the Kathmandu Business Campus. The valedictory session was chaired by Dr. Laxman Shakya, Vice President, and the 10th WWA International Coordination Committee. Mr. Suresh Dhimal, Treasurer, WWA, in welcoming the audience, remarked that he was highly pleased to inform them that the 10th International Conference was a grand success. Dr. Anup Shresthacharya, a professor at Nepal’s Lumbini Buddhist University, and Dr. Mahomad Ali Khalid, from Bangladesh, both said they were happy with how the 10th International Conference turned out.

While distributing certificates to the participants, volunteers, and paper presenters, the chief guest, Mr. Adika Ratna Sekar, India, expressed his heartfelt opinion, saying that the 10th International Conference had brought positive vibrations among academia and society. Mr. Naresh Prasad Shrestha, principal of the Kathmandu Business Campus and group CEO of the Samriddhi Education Foundation, gave a vote of thanks and expressed his pride in hosting the 10th WWA International Conference as a co-organizer. Also appreciated was all the cooperation provided by the participants and volunteers. It was not possible to make the conference a grand success without their support and involvement. Finally, Chairperson Dr. Shakya remarked that peace is the most important aim and objective of human beings conducting the conference. We can work toward achieving global peace and harmony. The cultural program presented by the students of Samriddhi School and KBC was highly praised by national and international participants.

World Without Anger (WWA) distributed Best Paper Awards – 1 and Critic Awards – 2 to the paper presenters dated December 24, 2022. The awards were selected by the Jury Committee member for the best papers selection and Critic Awards of the 10th International Conference of the WWA, whereas 59 national and international papers were presented during the 10th International Conference on “Emotional Intelligence and Management of Human Resources, Information Technology, Cooperatives, and Positive Mental Health for World Peace in the Pandemic-affected Era” atKathmandu Business Campus, Banasthali, Kathmandu on November 5 and 6, 2022.
