Dean of International Peace Prize Awarded to Two Nepali Leaders

Kathmandu — The Dean of International Peace Prize for 2022 has been awarded to Er. Ram Rohan Panta, Regional Representative for South Asia at the Global Peace Foundation. Panta has been recognized for his significant contributions to development and peace. A former President of GPF Nepal, he is noted for his leadership in social activism, technology, and peacebuilding. Among his achievements are leading 1,600 youth volunteers in earthquake relief, organizing major youth seminars, and launching the Global Peace Builders practicum, which has trained around 100 youths. He also played a key role in events such as the Global Peace Leadership Conference Indo-Pacific 2024, the Peace Environment & Tourism Forum, and the Udymai Yuva Challenge. The award will be presented by Ms. Deeanna Croasmun, daughter of the late Dr. Dean Van Leuven, founder patron of World Without Anger, from West Wendover, Nevada, USA.

The Dean of International Peace Prize for 2023 has been awarded to Dr. Tap Raj Pant, Education Program Specialist at UNESCO Juba, South Sudan. With over two decades of service at UNESCO, Dr. Pant has held several leadership roles, including Chief of Education Section at the UNESCO offices in Juba and Ramallah. He began his UNESCO career in Kathmandu in 2005 and was instrumental in developing Nepal’s National Education Support Strategy for 2008–2013 and 2013–2017. Dr. Pant holds an M.Phil. from the Danish University of Education and a Ph.D. in Inclusive Education from Tribhuvan University. The award was received by his son on his behalf, as Dr. Pant was on mission in South Sudan.
